It is a synthetic like so many other synthetics from my nylon or gel spun polyethylene tying thread to the stuff I lash to the hook with those threads - poly yarn, flourofibre, synthetic dubbing, etc. WebJan 16, 2024 · Plenty of people also like to use CDC or foam, or even palmer the thorax like a classic Adams dry. I honestly don't think it matters all that much. I like the scud hook because it will keep the fly positioned properly in the water, I can get away with less wasted hook because I am not tying the body on it, and it just looks better to me.
